In the breathtaking highlands of Scotland, a five-year-old girl embarked on a journey that would forever intertwine her past with her present. As she traveled by train with her mother, excitement bubbled within her, and she engaged herself with coloring, the rhythmic clatter of the train a comforting backdrop to her imagination.

The journey stretched on for three hours, and soon, her mother surrendered to sleep, leaving the little girl to her thoughts. When her mother awoke, slightly disoriented, she glanced around and muttered, “I wonder where we are now?”

With a confidence that belied her age, the little girl piped up, “We are nearly at Gleneagles.” Leaving her mother amused!
“Oh, and how do you know Gleneagles? You’ve never been!”

Still focused on her coloring, the girl replied, “I used to live here with my other mum before I came to live with you and Dad.” The words tumbled out, each one a thread connecting her to a life long past. Her mother, though startled, listened with an open mind as her daughter recounted a story that seemed to transcend time.

“I played with my siblings and walked along the edge of a railway bridge,” she continued, her voice steady. “I slipped and fell onto the side of the railway. It hurt really badly, but I didn’t get hit by a train.” The vividness of her recollection painted a scene that felt all too real. “Then I was in a bed with lots of blankets. My mum, who had long blonde hair, was holding my hand and crying. A man in a black dress read me a story from his book.”

With a childlike innocence, she proclaimed, “THEN I came to you and Dad.”

Her mother, speechless, absorbed the weight of her daughter’s words, a mixture of disbelief and wonder swirling within her. As the train continued its journey, the little girl gazed out the window, her eyes sparkling with recognition. “It’s here! The bridge is coming! My house is on the right!”

As they passed beneath the bridge, she waved excitedly at the house that had once been hers, a fleeting glimpse into a life that felt both distant and familiar.

Years later, the echoes of that past life lingered in her present. Now an adult, she faced the challenges of rheumatoid arthritis, predominantly affecting her right side. Ironically, she found herself working on the railway, a connection to the very place that had once been a backdrop to her childhood memories.

Determined to explore the area that had haunted her dreams, she plans a journey to uncover the remnants of her past. With the resources available to her now, she hopes to find the bridge and the house that had once been her home!
